Sadler’s Wells hosts the annual and much anticipated Flamenco Festival London 2017 directed by Miguel Marín, presenting the leading flamenco performers in their latest productions.
Opening on Wednesday 15 February and Thursday 16 February 2017 with the UK première of Israel Galván’s FLA.CO.MEN
To get an idea of the absolute artistry of the flamenco dancer and choreographer, Israel Galván, here is a short trailer of him dancing without music: ISRAEL GALVÁN – SOLO. One can see the deep expression in his movements and positions and the forms he creates which are full of meaning and communicate directly and compellingly to you:
In 2015, Israel Galván won the Max award at the XVIII Premios Max de las Artes Escénicas for the best principal dancer in FLA.CO.MEN.

Eva Yerbabuena Ballet Flamenco premièred her Apariencias (Appearances) in 2016 at the XX Festival de Jerez in Spain. Here, as with all of her productions, she manages to address fundamental issues of the individual and of life through the medium of flamenco.
Apariencias promises nothing less than the incredible productions she has created over the years. In this short video, she discusses some of the concepts behind Apariencias, of who we are, who we would like to be, how we appear to others … referencing the German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer, but I can guarantee that her dancing will express all of this, without any need of explanation:
Apariencias also features the guest singer Alana Sinkëy, Paco Jarana on guitar and Antonio Coronal on percussion at Sadler’s Wells on Friday 17 February 2017, with a 3.30pm and 7.30pm performance on Saturday 18 February 2017 and on Sunday 19 February 2017 at 7.30pm.
