The flamenco tablao Casa Patas was established in 1985 in the Lavapiés district of Madrid, where important flamenco artists have lived for over a century. The flamenco guitarist, Ramón Montoya (1880–1949), was born in the Barrio de Lavapiés – he was the favoured accompanist of the flamenco singer Antonio Chacón (1869–1929), one of the most important and influential singers in the history of flamenco.
Casa Patas have an impressive list of progammed artists performing daily with performances on Mondays–Thursdays at 10.30pm, on Fridays and Saturdays at 9pm and midnight.
The Fundación Conservatorio Flamenco Casa Patas was established in 2000 as a centre for flamenco teaching, research and promotion of flamenco cante, toque y baile, as well as the promotion of Spansh gastronomy and culture.

The etching used in the Casa Patas with logo was done by Joaquín Araujo Ruano (1851–1894); it was signed by Araujo in 1884 and given the title ‘Cantaor flamenco’.
The second etching, which Casa Patas uses for the Fundación Conservatorio Flamenco Casa Patas is of an early flamenco cantaor known as ‘El Planeta‘, who used to accompany himself on the guitar.
