Poster designed by Ramón Sánchez, the son of the guitarist Ramón de Algeciras, who was Paco de Lucía’s brother.
WHEN Paco de Lucía died unexpectedly in February 2014, he had completed the work on his forthcoming album Canción Andaluza – an album with the Andalucian coplas – songs that he had grown up with and that meant so much to him: María de la O, Señorita, Te he de Querer Mientras Viva, Chiquita Piconera, Romance de Valentía and Ojos Verdes composed by Antonio Quintero, Rafael de León and Manuel Quiroga.
Canción Andaluza was released in April 2014, after the death of Paco de Lucía in February of that year, and so was never taken on tour and performed live.
The Canción Andaluza première ‘live’ performance with SPECIAL GUEST flamenco singer Arcángel, with the flamenco guitarists José María Bandera and Amir John Haddad (also on bouzouki), Josemi Garzón on double bass and Israel Katumba on percussion will be on Tuesday 18 July 2017 in the Parque María Cristina, at 10pm as as part of the IV Encuentro Internacional de Guitarra Paco de Lucía, Algeciras.
The annual Encuentro Internacional de Guitarra Paco de Lucía was established by the Ayuntamiento of Algeciras in 2014. This year’s Encuentro 17–23 July 2017 also features:
Bailándote of the sisters Úrsula and Tamara López on Monday 17 July 2017 in the Parque María Cristina, at 10pm.
