The young flamenco guitarist David Carmona is descendent from a long line of gypsy performers in Granada. He started playing when he was 7 years old and made his first disc Tratante in 1997 at the age of 12, as a prizewinner in the Veo-Veo programme of Canal Sur television.

David Carmona played as second guitarist alongside the legendary Flamenco guitarist Manolo Sanlúcar for five years, as his young protégé – a training that other outstanding flamenco guitarists, such as Vicente Amigo and Juan Carlos Romero have enjoyed before him.
In Manolo Sanlúcar’s own words:
…es mi hijo adoptivo, mi único heredero,
es el referente del futuro en la guitarra
In 2009 he won the first prize in the prestigious international Flamenco competition in Jerez. He won the Giraldillo Revelación from the Bienal Flamenco Sevilla 2010.
David Carmona will be making his UK debut at The Sage Gateshead on Tuesday 23 October 2012 at 8pm, and then performing in London at Kings Place on Thursday 25 October 2012 at 7.30pm.
